Gerard Canters‘ research has focused on the molecular characterization of redox enzymes and proteins (mainly copper proteins) by NMR and EPR, X-ray crystallography, electrochemistry, single molecule spectroscopy and protein engineering.  Although his interest in metalloproteins was shared by Bert Vallee, they didn’t meet until after Canters was a Vallee Visiting Professor in 2003 when he was hosted by Allen Hill at the University of Oxford.
